Is eyelash tinting any good and safe?

hello

my friend is gettng her eyelashes tinted in a salon next month and wants me to go with her and get them done too.

im tempted cos im blonde and have blonde eyelashes but ive heard the dye isnt safe (i would think it was as its designed for the eye area and used it reputable salons) and something about eyelashes falling out!!!? is it the dye that causes them to fall out? i dont want that! also is it worth it? i dont think tinting will give the fullness and volume that mascara does but i cant be bothered with mascara on holiday!

thanks everyone xxIs eyelash tinting any good and safe?

Please be advised that the Massachusetts Board of Cosmetology, as of January 16, 2001, prohibits the marketing and use of any dyes for eyelash and eyebrow tinting or dyeing in beauty salons because this practice has been known to cause severe injuries and even blindness.

This warning is being issued after an advisory from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding eyebrow and eyelash tinting.

These dyes should not be confused with temporary coloring products used around the eyes 鈥?such as mascara, eye shadow, eyebrow pencils and eye liners 鈥?which can be used safely.

Any cosmetologist who knowingly markets and uses dyes for eyelash and eyebrow tinting or dyeing in beauty salons will face disciplinary action. If you have any questions regarding this notice please contact the Board of Cosmetology at 617-727-3067.

The new Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act was passed in 1938 and ';Lash Lure'; was the first product seized under its authority.

Consumers should never dye their eyebrows or eyelashes. An allergic reaction to the dye could prompt swelling, inflammation, and susceptibility to infection in the eye area. These reactions can severely harm the eye and even cause blindness. FDA prohibits the use of hair dyes for eyebrow and eyelash tinting or dyeing, even in beauty salons and other establishments.

FDA has continuously warned the public about the use of coal-tar dyes on the eyebrows or eyelashes, stating that such use could cause permanent injury to the eyes, including blindness.

i wouldn't do it, personally....i'd use the mascara....but i'm not blonde...so that's one (and the only prob) i think i haven't had. =)
no trust me 0 0 ---those are my eyes.....no more eyelashes
The Food and Drug Administration today reissued its long-standing warning against ';permanent'; eyebrow and eyelash dyeing. The Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 prohibits the marketing of hair dyes for eyelash and eyebrow tinting or dyeing because this practice has been known to cause severe eye injuries and even blindness.
Ive known some people who did that, and their eye lashes fell out the next day.

I think if you go to a person who knows what their doing, I think you'll be fine.
Well, it can cause some damage yes... But also what I noticed on girls with tinted eyelashes that they do look good yes but still putting the mascara on is much much better. And there is no difference after you put mascara on if your eyelashes are tinted or no...

If your eyelashes are light... The only difference it would make is when you don't wear make-up or if you don't use mascara, then I would say go for it...

No matter what you tint on your body, it's not healthy, hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, something else? Anyway... I hope I've helped :)
